BOOK A TIME AT THE HOLMARKA FIRE PIT AREA
For more information about the fire pit area, click the green button above or scroll down.
The visitor farm is open for drop-in visits when volunteers from Friends of Holmarka are present and available.
Animal care takes place from approximately 9:00 a.m. every morning and from approximately 6:00 p.m. every evening. Times may vary slightly.
When the “WELCOME IN” sign is displayed on the gate, you are welcome to come in!
All animals are outdoors during the day, making them easily visible to visitors.

Holmarka Visitor Farm is a branch of the Romsdal Museum.
The farm is home to horses, sheep, rabbits, cats, chickens, pheasants, ducks, peacocks, and you will often meet the farm dogs as well. The animals roam freely within the fenced area.
Friends of Holmarka operates the Visitor Farm on a voluntary basis. The work corresponds to approximately 4.5 full-time positions. The animals are cared for every morning and evening, every day of the year. Maintenance work and garden management are seasonal activities.
All animals receive daily training to ensure they are comfortable with visitors and able to interact closely with unfamiliar people.
The farm and surrounding area, known as HOLMARKA, welcome between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors every year.
Our goal is to keep Holmarka open and attractive for people of all ages, allowing children to meet animals and providing outdoor areas that support a wide range of community activities throughout the year.
A greenhouse, vegetable garden, fruit orchard, and berry garden have been established and are well worth a visit. Many interesting plants can be tasted and enjoyed through their scents.
Holmarka Sledding Hill is open whenever there is sufficient snow and the gate is open.

SCHOOLS AND KINDERGARTENS:
Holmarka Visitor Farm welcomes visits from kindergartens during daytime hours.
Bookings are made through the museum’s website under the “Children and Schools” section. Available dates and times are published there when volunteers are ready to receive visitors.
Private visitors are welcome to stop by whenever the “WELCOME IN” sign is displayed. You may meet one of our volunteers caring for the animals and perhaps even have the opportunity to enter the barn.

Together with Friends of Moldemarka, a traditional timber shelter with a fire pit has been built at Holmarka Panorama.
“Balder’s Place” (the gravel field) serves both as a training area and a playground for two-legged and four-legged visitors alike.
